NAB 2014: cinemizer® OLED, Zeiss’ Immersive Monitoring Experience

As a lens manufacturer, the Zeiss NAB booth is naturally full of wall to wall lenses. However this year there was a new item that stood out from the crowd: the cinemizer OLED. Zeiss’ Annette Tindall was on hand to tell us everything we needed to about this unexpected new product.

Able to connect to any device with video out, Zeiss had them on display with a Canon DSLR where they were being used as an external viewfinder. This also means they can be used with bluray/DVD players, computers, and even Mac devices such as iPhones, iPads, and Mac computers. The cinemizer OLED  has built in diopters to allow corrections for all different levels of eyesight, and even supports both 2D and 3D video.

The device is powered by a lithium ion battery that charges through mini usb. Using and HDMI or digital signal the glasses will last for about two hours, while an analog signal will allow for about six hours of battery life. The removable eye shield that surrounds the edges of the cinemizer OLED really helps during brightly lit scenarios, making it perfect for outdoor locations where it can frequently be very difficult to see an on board monitor. When it comes to sound, the cinemizer OLED has built in Sennheiser ear buds, but also allows you to plug in your headphones of choice with a 3 1/2mm jack on the battery pack.

The cinimizer OLED is currently available for $789. You can find out more information at cinemizer.com
