The next Los Angeles Post Production Group (LAPPG) meeting will be this Wednesday, July 9th at their usual location. The guest of honor will be Variety‘s Chief Film Critic Justin Chang discussing ‘Five Lessons From the Industry’s Great Editors’. There will also be a Plug-In Showcase, with Zaxwerks’ Alex Dow and Digital Rebellion’s Jon Chappell discussing the latest innovations for their respective plugins.
The meeting will be held at 7PM at the Crossroads School for Arts & Sciences in Santa Monica at Roth Hall, 1714 21th Street.
A great film editor is a great storyteller — not just a creative technician, but an artist who has a hand in shaping every moment of the finished work. Distilling the wisdom of the 17 editors interviewed in his book FilmCraft: Editing, Variety chief film critic Justin Chang discusses the crucial role of this oft-misunderstood craft, specifically how good (and bad) editing can impact the rhythm of a narrative, the quality of a performance and the emotional impact of a story.
Alex Dow, Director of Marketing at Zaxwerks, will be showing a first look of the new 3D ProAnimator v8, coming soon! This new version is all about speed and beauty and is geared for the user that values his render time. Alex’s depth of knowledge and infectious attitude has helped people all over the world discover how easy 3D motion graphics can be when using Zaxwerks products.
Jon Chappell, CEO of Digital Rebellion LLC, will be showing off their cloud workflow platform, Kollaborate, and how it connects with all of their apps to improve workflows. Come learn how it can simplify file sharing and team management and how you keep up to date with the progress of your project, store files in the cloud, share them with colleagues and clients, and much more.
